Why is English the universal language in science?
Okay, raise your hands, colleagues. How do you pronounce the following English words: “bough”, “cough”, “through”, “though”, “thought”? (Yes, “cough” is similar to “thought.” But why?) Answer: they are all pronounced differently, and only historical linguists understand why.
